The Himalayan range is home to over a hundred of the planet’s highest peaks, including the highest, Mount Everest. The mighty Himalayas command awe and reverence with many believing its magnificence to be a manifestation of the Supreme. No wonder the Himalayas have a deep spiritual ethos where many seekers, Rishis and Buddhist monks became enlightened after years of meditative practice.

Chaukori is a tiny hill station in the Pithoragarh district located in the lofty peaks of the western Himalayan Range in India. Chaukori’s offers a spectacular and panoramic views of snowy peaks of shimmering silver and mesmerizing sunsets and sunrises, verdant valleys and thick forests of pine and oak trees.

A good friend has shared some spectacular glimpses of the Himalayas as viewed from Chaukori and its neighboring points. Please do enjoy 🙂

It is an addiction. I was fortunate to spend some of my childhood summer holidays in hill stations in the lower Himalayas. That has made me a lifelong fan of the Himalayas and mountains.

I share your feelings as I too have been operating in these mountains some years ago while in service. And yes later the short holiday visits to Sikkim and Darjeeling never failed to revive their awesome grandeur.

Thanks Ankur and best always 👍🏽

  8. I am truly in awe of our planet most days, Dilip, and I can’t help but find my face is often slack-jawed with wonderment. Mountains have an incredibly special place in my heart, as I live on top of a very small one, but it is enough to bring me similar delights from every hour of the day. I never tire of seeing from this perspective and I thank my lucky stars every night for the privilege of doing so.
The pictures are stunning. Thank you for sharing them.

Interestingly, I too have used the Himalayas as a back drop in my current post, though in a different way! I have talked of ” Mind Shift”.

And I request those who wish to visit Chaukori to plan their trip at their earliest convenience,As is with every tourist place Chaukori too faces danger of upsurge of construction and other tourist related business activities. September to March are the best time though peak of winters is very chilly and freezing. but winters are the best time to enjoy the peaks as sky is clear,
Thanks for the kind and lovely words.

Thanks a lot for these important tips for folks who would like to visit and get the best out of this quaint little hill-town.

Sad about the spurt of business activity. 😦 Development is good but if not planned imaginatively it can take away the unique charm and serenity of the place.

Regards and have a lovely Sunday.

  34. The last pic struck a cord with me. Twice I posted my comments on your post, failed .”Mighty snow covered Himalayas in the background, lush green hill side dotted with houses all over. Reminds me of my vill, Ujeh in Himachal Pradesh. My village, my life, my surroundings, My Being. Total nostalgia. Ten & half years of my child hood spent in those low lying & rolling hills, known as Shivalik Hills in HP.” Thanks Dilip for sending me back to my roots, temprarily though.
