Howdy folk

In my Texas neighborhood, I always looked in wonder at the carefree cute little squirrels flitting about playfully enjoying their acorn meal 🙂 Light on their feet and mischievous taking a photo was always an exciting challenge. This lovely poem (by AB) brings out my true feelings of those moments.  🙂

As I walked, my head bowed down,
With the weight of all worldly matters,
I saw this squirrel merrily running around as if the world belonged to him,
But it did belong to him.

I saw him going about his task joyfully without a care in the world.
He was performing the most mundane task of searching for something to eat, or perhaps playing around after he had his fill,
But he, just like me is God’s creature. I marveled at the difference between him and me.
He lived on trust, knowing he will be taken care of.

As he scampered, climbed trees, ran down again, performing in his own little theater as he was the actor and also the audience. He knew the secret of the universe and practiced it,
Whereas I, despite knowing the secret of the universe still believed it was I, who was doing everything, 😦
And instead of walking joyfully without a care in the world, I was dragging my feet as if they were in chains.

Oh, to take some life lessons from a squirrel; for he is as much His creation as I am.

I'm relaxing

Enjoying my acorn feast

Have a wonderful weekend all you lovely folk 🙂

Profound and beautiful observations. Yes we can learn a lot from animals and birds. And you are right humans though blessed with an intellect do not use it wisely and make a simple n happy life unnecessarily complicated and unhappy.

Thank you and wish you a lovely week. 🙋

Apt poem to go with the picture. Makes you wonder if the faculties that we think make us superior are, in reality, the ones that make us the most vulnerable, the most stupid.

I thank the above commentator for the Video bhajan of the American guru Bhagavan Das Master of Nadi Yoga. I have added the following information for our readers from the Wikipedia.

Bhagavan Das is the last living cultural icon of the 60’s. As Ram Das’s mentor (author of Be Here Now) he ushered in the New Age Spiritual Movement being the first Kirtan Artist in America. His groundbreaking album “Ah” (1971) produced by Jimi Hendrix’s manager Michael Jeffrey’s was the first World Music album from Electric Ladyland. Bhagavan Das has also toured with Allen Ginsburg, opened for the Grateful Dead and sang with Bob Dylan.

Living as a sadhu in India for six years Bhagavan Das studied the ancient science of Nada Yoga under the guidance and direction of his Guru Neem Karoli Baba. Nada Yoga is the path of devotion to the inner sound current as a means to God Realization. Alan Watts himself saying in a Rolling Stone review of the Album “Ah” that “Bhagavan Das is truly a Master of Nada Yoga”

To experience Bhagavan Das in concert is to receive Darshan of the Guru himself, to touch and be touched by the immortal essence of his Guru Neem Karoli Baba- as the Light of the Guru is delivered through the mystical and potent voice of Bhagavan Das.His devotion to his Guru as that living inner sound is what he shares and transmits to all that wish to receive this blessing.

Bhagavan Das’s rare and sacred offering to this world is like a singing open heart heralding the Guru’s Grace through the vehicle of Sound.

The playlist of Kirtan shows up some more kirtankaars such as David Newman aka Durga Das who is a sacred chant master, recording artist, singer/songwriter, best-selling author, and inspirational teacher. David, also known as Durga Das, travels extensively sharing his music, and teachings on the path of love as a vehicle for spiritual awakening.

The difference in the squirrel and us is that we are having ego the squirrel has non. It could go any place with joy abandon, without care, what others around it will say for it. But we humans discriminate and that is our undoing.

This poem is a beautiful illustration of how Nature and all other beings are “Care=free” while Man has himself chosen to be burdened with problems and worries. He just won’t let go of his ‘doer-ship’, his Ego. Am interested to know who the Author is?
    Love and Blessings.

Your are spot on dear Surinder sir. ‘Doer-ship’ is right word and the poem brings out futility of us folk in carrying the unnecessary burden. I had made note of this poem in a small magazine some time back and the author did not reveal his name.
      Thanks and regards.

“And whoever places his trust in Allah, He is sufficient for him.” (Surah At-Talaq: 3)”

Sayyidina Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam)( The Last PropHet Of GOD ) has said: “If you have proper and sincere tawakkul (reliance) on Allah Ta’ala. He will grant you rizq like the birds are given rizq, who come out of their nests in the morning with empty stomachs and return to their nests in the evening with a full stomach.

Dilip you have wonderfully proved in the squirrel story that existence takes care of all the living species. Only human feels he/she is special and have come into this word for something special. Life after life continue repeating the same story adding mask over the previous mask loosing contact with self. Fails to be in the present moment. In a moment wanders all over forgetting about all the gifts of existence. Living less seriously also creates tension, you are dragged out of the present moment creating anxiety which creates hope. When hope turn sour you are frustrated. When one is in the present without thinking one is really relaxed. OSHO, a great mystic of this century says” use the mind as servant of the heart”. Not allowing mind to over power the heart is real art of relaxation.

Dear Ajay a beautiful response emanating from faraway beautiful New Zealand 👌yes you have reinforced the wisdom of the Great Master Osho beautifully.

It is when we are in awareness we witness the happenings around and realise the presence of the Supreme Power. Makes us feel we too are being taken care off and we ought release our anxieties and reaffirm our faith.

I am truly blessed to have a friend in you ✋
