The beautiful bluebonnet flowers bloom only for a couple of months during March – April in Texas. It was in my last visit to Texas that I first sited these flowers and was fascinated by them ‘love at first sight’ 🙂 No wonder the bluebonnet was designated the official state flower of Texas in 1901 and Texan children and grown-ups alike love them.
Often during my morning walks I enjoyed watching young parents park their cars on the roadside to take pictures of their kids posing cheerfully amidst the wonderful bluebonnet. But of course they took great care not to trample them.
We leaving for a few months to Texas so it will be off season for the bluebonnets 😦 But Texas and the people there are wonderful and life will be enjoyable for sure 🙂
Cheers folks 🙂
Lovely flower indeed!

I had to look closely at your photo of the Bluebonnots.
As they resemble the Lupins that grow wild in the South Island of New Zealand.
Lupins are used to rejuvenate the soil between farm crops.
But like all plants when they find perfect conditions they run wild.
Their are no weeds only flowers growing out of place._/\_

Interesting inputs indeed especially the Lupins of N.Z. and their rejuvenating effect on the soil. In my small herb garden I grow quick ‘turn-over’ easy crops like ground nuts and fodder for cattle in-between the main crops.

The agriculture department geneticists at Texas A&M University, my alma mater, succeeded in creating maroon (A&M’s color) bluebonnets. They then proceeded to scatter seed around the tower on the campus of the University of Texas (A&M’s arch-rivals). When the maroon bluebonnets bloomed this past spring, there were quite an uproar from Texas students and quite a lot of laughter from A&M students. I should say there was quite a lot of laughter from one certain A&M alumnus, too……LOL

PS: As a golfer, I thought you would appreciate this … a week ago we attended the final round of the Bridgestone Invitation at the fabled Firestone course …. we followed Mickelson, thus saw his 10-birdie round.
