This evening I was having a walk in our society & saw someone flit across the road in a flash. And in the far distance I saw a daring bicycle rider riding speeding across hazardous obstacles such like drains ditches and rubble heaps.
I am so glad I had my camera with me and I tookย a vantage position. Hereโs what I got.
Later I had a chat with Gautam and came to know heย is a national ranking bicycle rider and was in a practice session. He leaves in 3 days to participate in the international downhill Mountain Biking Championship being held at Kathmandu, Nepal. Promises to be very exciting for the bikers going through hazards and steep downhill descent and jumps. Last year Gautam came 5th among all the participants.
Watching Gautam in action felt how admirable that these guys love to play with danger. Guess they have guts of steel coupled with lightening reactions. Now do join me in wishing young Gautam loads of luck in the forthcoming championship ๐

I am glad to learn that whole lot of friends have liked and shared their views. surely their good wishes will go a long way to boost the morale of our young friend gautam. named after great budha GAUTAMA THE BUDHA. Life is very simple. Ity is a joyful dance. It is a reward, and it is given only to those who have earned it. so it is our right to enjoy. It will ber sinful if we dont enjoy, will be against the existence if we don!t beautify it. let us make it little happier, little more beautiful, a little more fragrant. gautam is doing the same in his own way. all of us were in flow as while we were children. geetha has explained beautifully about the flow of life meaning that you are connected with your harra, your centre(innerself). let us get ionto life and not stand aloof from it. The whole human history upto now has been work oriented. Let it be play oriented. when life is a play a new childhood, a new festivity is born and then the whole life becomes a ceremony. let us live life fully playfully laughing and loving and enjoy the lovely gift we have earned after thousands of lives.with warm regards.ajay.

Well said Ajay and kudos to Geetha for appreciation and adding an interesting dimension through the concept of Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience by Csรญkszentmihรกlyi. It surely makes a perfect fit.
So when we see someone doing acts of courage and daring in a good sort of way the source of their inspiration is deep within them. Thanks Geetha.
Thanks Ajay for your interest.

Ha ha ha. thanks a lot for quick and nice reply. As we are aware that all complexities are man made. Simplicity is a divine. It is not manufactured: it is simply here. We just have to open our eyes, our sensitivity, receptivity, and allow it to touch our hearts. to enter into our being. This spirited and dare devil act is in fact a meditation where this young man is fully aware and is deeply connected inside as one body, mind and soul. with warm regards.ajay

Dear Sir,
I love your comment here about Gautam being in a meditative state. In fact, I can’t help feeling that both Gautam and Dilip Sir have been in a state of ‘flow’ here. Superb pictures of a superb act! And best wishes to Gautam!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mihaly_Csikszentmihalyi
In his seminal work, Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience, Csรญkszentmihรกlyi outlines his theory that people are happiest when they are in a state of flowโ a state of concentration or complete absorption with the activity at hand and the situation. It is a state in which people are so involved in an activity that nothing else seems to matter (Csikszentmihalyi,1990). The idea of flow is identical to the feeling of being in the zone or in the groove. The flow state is an optimal state of intrinsic motivation, where the person is fully immersed in what he or she is doing. This is a feeling everyone has at times, characterized by a feeling of great absorption, engagement, fulfillment, and skillโand during which temporal concerns (time, food, ego-self, etc.) are typically ignored.[8]
In an interview with Wired magazine, Csรญkszentmihรกlyi described flow as “being completely involved in an activity for its own sake. The ego falls away. Time flies. Every action, movement, and thought follows inevitably from the previous one, like playing jazz. Your whole being is involved, and you’re using your skills to the utmost.”[9]
To achieve a flow state, a balance must be struck between the challenge of the task and the skill of the performer. If the task is too easy or too difficult, flow cannot occur. Both skill level and challenge level must be matched and high; if skill and challenge are low and matched, then apathy results.[7]
The flow state also implies a kind of focused attention, and indeed, it has been noted that mindfulness, meditation, yoga, the Alexander Technique, and martial arts seem to improve a person’s capacity for flow. Among other benefits, all of these activities train and improve attention.

wow. thanks for a breathtaking snaps of gautama in mid air. Infact I saw him going all the way in great speed hopping and jumping through the open space in front of my house. later I too had a little chat with him. after congratulating him I asked him whether he is doing it with permission from his parents. jokingly he asked me if I had given permission to my son arjun who used to do such trick on a dirt bike. He is a dare devil and very confident of what he is doing. I am sure he will do very well and wish him the very best in the next competition. Life is a great gift and we must allow our inner hidden talent to blossom like any great flower.

Ajay what you say has an echo in the quote above by Schulz โLife is like a ten speed bicycle. Most of us have gears we never useโ. You are right credit has to be given to the parents who allow their children to follow their passion. And yes Gautam’s counter question on how you allowing Arjun was smart ๐ Yeah he too was quite a spirited young man.
