We missed attending one of my dear ex student Arun Fijardo’s (tasmac MBA 2003) Church wedding recently in Goa. And so it was nice to be invited for a Church wedding by our family friends this evening at Pune. Their son was getting married. When we reached the venue the Church looked majestic, bright yet serene – a spiritual ambience.

During the marriage ceremony the reverend pastor spoke about the young couple who were to be joined in marriage. The choir sung soulful hymns which added a harmonious dimension. The readings from the Bible were profound in their wisdom and seemed apt for the occasion. The choir also conveyed to the couples’ family and friends about the importance the couple attaches to their relationship to God.

The marriage was solemnized by the bride and groom with the words “To have and to hold from this day forward, for better or worse. For richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part” — The Book of Common Prayer: Solemnization of Matrimony

Finally the organist struck a joyful note as the bride and the groom walked arm-in-arm down the aisle. For us the entire ceremony was a divine experience and we wish the young couple a long and happy married life.

Thank you!

God, the best maker of all marriages, Combine your hearts into one.
    William Shakespeare

Wedding day is the most special and the most important day in the life of a person. It is the day when two people become one and promise to be with each other throughout their life, in happy times as well during sad moments, in pleasure as well as in pain

I have done my schooling from a Convent Christian school and have many Christian friends. Christians believe that the God has intended marriage to be an instrument to bring about the welfare and happiness of mankind. Christian Marriage, husband and wife are one. God said: “For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”(Genesis 2:24).

The thing which fascinates me the most is the wedding cake and Bridal Wear (White gown) which according to Christians represent purity.

I would like to share a Christian wedding poem for all viewers. The Poem is written by M.S.Lowndes, titled as ‘United Hearts’

God has brought us here together
To be united in His love
    Joined in Holy Matrimony
    With faith in God above

For it’s our faith that guides our lives
With a measure of God’s grace
For this is what keeps love strong
    Through whatever we may face

And as we build our marriage on
    The foundation of Christ
It will not crumble or give way
Through the daily pressures of life

But it will stand the test of time
    Growing stronger day by day
As we keep our hearts united
And joined as one when we pray

The cord that binds our hearts in love
Will not fray over the years
For when we build our lives on God
We discover His love is there

Congratulations, have A Happy Wedded Life!!

Merry Christmas and A very Happy New year

      Dear Gaurav,

Both your comments on (a) Church wedding and (b) Christmas touch upon the spirit and significance of these sacred events beautifully. Nice to know that you to studied in a Christian school. Yes we feel proud of our schools and owe to them gratefulness aplenty for making us what we are today.

Thank you my dear friend and have a great New Year 2011.

      Cheers & take care.
